As already mentioned there are 28 states in India and 8 Union Territories. Each of these States and Union Territories is unique in its culture and people. Each state of India has an administrative, legislative and judicial capital. In some states, all three functions are conducted in one capital. Every state is ruled by a Chief Minister. Hence India as a nation is an amalgamation of diverse cultures and identities. The different states and union territories of India are as follows:
